Dramatic Transformations

Many good movies are based on novels. It is so nice to have a book you enjoy reading, made into a movie that you actually enjoy watching.
I have personally always enjoyed watching the Jane Austen movies, after having read the book. Of these, Pride and Prejudice has always been my favorite. But Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion were also really good.
And....the movies based on the Danielle Steel books, I have enjoyed watching. Of these my favorite would have to be 'The Promises'. I guess reading the book before watching the movie definitely helps in the Danielle Steel movies. But one things I have always noticed in these movies is that they are a lot shorter and they leave out a lot of details.
One of the main reasons a movie based on a book can be enjoyed is because you really know all the details of the book and then get an overview in the movie. But at times it does not seem 'enough'. But when the characters are acted well then you feel it was worth watching.
Also, to see the places and setting narrated in the book - live on a screen, for those of us who do not get to visit these locations, is definitely very exciting.
But I am not sure how it works with watching a movie and then reading a book for you, as I never seem to related to either when I do that!
