Thushs Movie World - Movies For Us All!

How do you pick your favorite movie?

August 25th 2006 09:40
We all watch movies and we all have favorite ones as well. But how does one become a favorite?

Actors and Actresses – I think this is a key factor, as we tend to enjoy watching movies done by our favorites. Here it is also a combination of the type of movie as well. For instance, Hugh Grant acts in Romantic Comedies, mostly! So, if we enjoy Romantic Comedies and like Hugh Grant, a movie he acts in could be a favorite.

Also, there is the mood we are in when we watch a movie. If it relates to a similar period in our lives, and we can identify with it, then it could make an impression on us.

Another reason could be due to the fact that it is based on a book we have enjoyed reading. If the movie is acted well and similar to the book, then this is a definite reason to become a favorite.

Movie settings – For example I still enjoy watching ‘Blue Hawaii’ as I enjoy the music and the scenery in Hawaii. So, although it does not have much of a story, I still enjoy watching it, especially if I am in a holiday mood and cannot go on a holiday!!!

But sometimes, movies become our favorite, just because it is a movie that has been done well and because we just enjoyed watching it.

I have written a few reasons as to why a movie might be your favorite. Do you have any other reasons?

Jon,
Yes very true. I guess it keeps one interested throughout the movie and then makes you think about it after as well.

I like films from any genreof film, as long as they are done well.

The directing and writing usually play a huge part for me. Who acts in it can be a factor but in general it all boils down to how hooked on th efilm I get.

Originality, or fresh reworking of old ideas, If I get taken along with and challenged by movie that usually makes it a fave for me.

A few twists and turns in the plot would not go amiss. And of course, the chemistry between the leading actors is another thing that would draw me to a particular movie.

Scarlett,
Yes, mystery and romance are definitely needed for us to enjoy a movie!
